Well, first of all any linux distribution supports the use of ns2 provided you have the right packages installed. So, if you have installed ubuntu, (I personally don’t suggest its use, since it causes a lot of problem post installation), try and get all the development packages such as python, perl, tcl/tk(very imp.), if everything is in order, you should be able to install it.
What I suggest is you should select the installation of all the above mentioned packages while you are installing ur os like ubuntu. If you hav not done that, then installing each package independently is a big head ache since the dependencies are hard to resolve. So, if u r facing problems, reinstall ur os this time install all the development packages.
